Choosing and applying a foundation is the most important part of your makeup routine as it gives you the flawless, perfect skin that every woman dreams of.

1. Determine your skin type – oily, normal, dry or sensitive. Take note that this can change seasonally and with age.

2. Choose a formulation that will meet your specific needs.  If you want a true “no makeup” look with light coverage choose a tinted moisturiser. Mineral foundation is ideal for all skin types, especially those with sensitive skin or rosacea.

3. Select three foundation colours that you think would suit your skin. Using a cotton tip, do a small parallel line with all three foundations on the side of the face close to the jaw.

Leave on the skin for a couple of seconds before making your decision. Look at it in natural lighting. Foundation should colour match perfectly to the natural skin colour and should look as though it has “disappeared” into the skin.  

4. Never choose a foundation to change the colour of your face.

5. If you can’t find the exact shade, buy 2 - one slightly lighter and one slightly darker and mix to achieve the correct shade all year round.
